Things I hate about the Big 3

The biggest and most influential companies in the Korean pop business consist of: SM, JYP and YG.
Lot's of people hate SM but I don't blame them either. JYP and YG aren't all that great either.

JYP - I don't follow JYP artists avidly so I
guess that's why I have the least to say about them. Their artists, I have no real complaints about. Right now it seems like exporting their idols overseas is their top priority and in the end they are the business, so making the biggest profit is in their best interest, nothing truly surprising there.

But honestly, WG's crossover to the U.S market is pretty much a big disaster. WG is really not what America wants or need to see in their overly sexual pop industry.
A flop despite having Akon comissioned to help.
The bubblegum pop that they are so famous for back home isn't "in" unless their demographic are disney tweens, heck they even had their own movie based on themselves. What I'm trying to say is WG aren't mainstream enough, they cover a very niche market (I guess most groups do). If they had stayed in Korea they probably would've retained their popularity like SNSD. They lost to f(x) during their comeback, a hoobae group and f(x) aren't extremely popular so it goes to show how much their popularity has dwindled during their absence.

Also they way they handled the Jay Park scandal was hardly decent but I guess I don't really need to delve further into old news...
2PM are also venturing to foreign markets (specifically Japan) since I guess it's the everyone-else-is-doing-it mentality and there's big money in Japan if you make it. In saying that, 2PM have got to make a comeback soon or they will be written off as irrelevant in the now over saturated k-pop market and JYP will only have Suzy I mean Miss A to mooch off (and JJ Project aren't big yet). I'm guessing they will though since in 2013 apparently price of music has changed and they can make more money out of it or something (research it yourself, I have a very vague understanding of it...).

YG - I used to be a YG fan and almost became a delusional YG stan but I took a step back and really looked at YG. Their old roots of hip-hop with 1ytm and Jinusean and looking at current acts like Big Bang and 2NE1 really make me wonder what went wrong. But they decided to become mainstream.
I think Big Bang has pretty humble-ish beginnings but after they came back from Japan their music sounded different. I don't have anything against people like electropop or their new image but their music has become so reliant on their so called uniqueness and their gimmicks. Like YG's colourful and obnoxious in your face music videos. I guess I personally prefer their more toned down videos but each to their own.

I'm also tired of people going on about YG's uniqueness and their good music etc. If you believe this then YG has successfully brainwashed you with their marketing tactics. There was seriously there was a point in time where Teddy and GD's overused of autotune make me want to choke them.

I don't have much to say about 2NE1 but it was a successful risk they took and they changed the standard of girl groups in Korea. In saying that I think they get too much hype for their music and I continually end up disappointed...

I'm also dreading the day YG debuts their new girl group dubbed "YG's version of SNSD". Their nickname already makes me cringe and YG's continuous trolling made me pissed. All I can say is their marketing team are smart assholes. I can already see a fanwar happening even before the group is established, who wants to get the popcorn and watch this unfold with me?
YG Stan: OMG. YG FAMILY! THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE TALENTED THEN PLASTIC SNSD HAHA. AT LEAST THEY HAVE TALENTS AND AREN'T JUST LOOKS. LMFAO. ROFL.
Sones: OMG BITCH. SNSD ARE A SUNBAE GROUP AND DEBUTED IN 2007 HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT THEM. THEY ARE THE QUEENS. THE QUEENS OF ALL K-POP. YG ARTISTS USE TOO MUCH AUTOTUNE AND ARE UGLY EVEN YG SAID SO LOL. HAHA.
(I am not joking about the last part btw). No but seriously the CEO is a douche and there's a different between being honest and outright rude. Plus he made his first girl group fail because he fell in love with one of the members. I guess you can't blame the company for getting girls not up to your so called "standards".

SM - There's literally too much you can pick out with SM. I can right a lone article explaining why SM are such assholes. I guess I'll vent out what I currently think of SM.

SM do not know the meaning of shameless and they exhibit this through their uncloseable ads in their music videos and their not so subtle advertising of etude house lip balm in To The Beautiful You and Genie School. Really SM really? They alternatively could have chosen Everysing. SNSD are forced to put their damn perfume in their music videos, just watch Twinkle by TTS and their new and horrible song I Got A Boy.

Which brings me to SM slow decline in their quality of music. Of course it's SM, don't expect any first class shit or anything, my standards for SM are already low but their music now has been more then bad.  I know SM is a business and no.1 priority is to profit in anyway possible but at least make the music half decent.Their groups have reached their height of popularity meaning fans will buy it even if it is complete and utter garbage. The only way to force them to put more money into things is to stop buying things outright. Though no-one has the heart to do it to their hardworking oppas.

Exceptions do include SHINee since they are still trying to keep them relevant after their departure to the Japanese market and EXO, a rookie group that still needs a solid foundation. And boy have they spent a truckload on them, mostly teasers and I do have to say their music is a lot less crap then their sunbaes but I don't think this will last long. Or maybe Yoo Young Jin favours them since he's got 3 clones in the group and too the liberty to help them out (aka sampling his own voice in their songs).

A lot of people have been complaining about SM buying all their songs. As half-assed as it is what the do you expect from SM? If it produces horrors like Mr. Simple or I Got A Boy (two okay songs mashed into one hot mess) then by all means buy your songs.  Plus anything involving effort equals putting more money meaning less profit meaning SM probably won't do it. Business is business. Spectrum isn't original and no noticeable effort was put in it but at least it didn't sound shitty and the dance was pretty impressive.

I also hate how they put more talented group members in the backseat over the supposed favoured ones in SM. You'd think the one who's always off key live would get less lines, well SM thinks their pretty botoxed faces can fix that right up. SM makes it blatantly obvious who they favour so I don't think I really need to name names.

I have to add how much of a joke SM rappers are, I mean k-pop rappers aren't taken too seriously but I think SM should stick to producing singers, dancers and pretty people (or entertainers).

Okay so sorry to conclude so abrupty but I think it's enough essay writing for today. Try to have intelligent discussions and if you feel some kind of burning rage please close this blog and consult your psychiatrist.
